Horry County Government's offices and facilities will reopen with a delay on Friday, Jan. 24, 2025, at 12 p.m., due to anticipated overnight refreezing during normal commuting times.
Current forecasts from the U.S. National Weather Service indicate temperatures will be below freezing overnight Thursday into Friday morning, followed by a significant rise in temperature by 10 a.m., reaching approximately 40 degrees Fahrenheit by 12 p.m. Such conditions will bring rapid thawing and more moderate conditions.
Parks & Recreation and Library facilities will reopen Friday at 12 p.m.; however, programs scheduled for Friday evening are canceled.
The Horry County Solid Waste Authority landfill will reopen Friday at 9 a.m. Recycling and convenience centers will resume normal operations as of 12 p.m., as conditions allow. (For normal operating schedules, visit the SWA website.)
Myrtle Beach International Airport is currently open and operational, but passengers are advised to check the status of their flights with their airline before coming to the airport.
Public safety departments continue to provide critical services.
