On Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024, Team Horry proudly participated in yet another rendition of the annual 'United to Read' literacy program.
'United to Read' is a key part of United Way of Horry County's larger effort to raise awareness of the importance of early literacy and celebrate reading at all ages and levels.
More than 150 volunteers, including County employees, visited first grade classrooms throughout Horry County to read Not a Box by Antoinette Portis. The children's book emphasizes the power of creativity and playing pretend -- as a child, even a cardboard box can take you to new worlds.
Throughout the holiday season, members of Team Horry are also engaging in a workplace giving campaign through United Way. The goal is for employees to raise and/or donate $15,000.
During the 2023 workplace giving campaign, Team Horry employees donated just under $12,000.
