The Horry County Veterans Affairs Office has received accolades from the South Carolina Department of Veterans Affairs, calling it one of the most effective in the state and providing exceptional service for the county’s growing veteran population.
The praise is from a report on the findings of a state evaluation. “I actually volunteered for the office to be inspected,” said Ronnie Elvis, Director of Veteran’s Affairs. “The state wanted to create a standard of service so veterans could expect a similar experience in any county. They reached out to ask for input from members of the National Association of County Veteran’s Service Officers, so I stepped up. I’m proud the state office is being innovative in finding opportunity for growth and improvement.”
The report states, “the Horry County Veterans Affairs Office is an exceptionally strong office that serves the Veterans of Horry County, and others, with dedication and commitment for their client’s best interests.”
It acknowledges director Ronnie Elvis’ leadership and knowledge, the exceptionally qualified staff and their dedication to their client’s best interests. The office’s use of encryption to protect personal information, file management, digital claims management, and connection with various other Veteran-focused groups help to make navigating the benefit application process much more efficient.
“I want Horry to be the standard bearer for the state,” Elvis said. “Treating everyone how you would want to be treated is very important to me and my staff has taken that to heart. They go above and beyond to what it takes to help a client. There are many hard-working county offices, but none are working harder than my team.”
Join us in congratulating this team on their outstanding evaluation and for their dedication to our veterans!
