The contractor working on the Arcadian Shores beach renourishment project is preparing to wrap-up operations in northern Horry County.

The contractor will begin the demobilization process in the Arcadian Shores area this weekend. While they work to remove equipment from the beach, the Turtle Beach Access will be closed from Sunday, May 31, 2026 through Tuesday, June 2, 2026. It is recommended residents and visitors use the Dolphin Beach Access as an alternative.

Work will now shift to Reach 2 of the federally funded Army Corps of Engineers project, which covers additional portions of beach within the City of Myrtle Beach.

When Reach 2 is complete, work will continue south into Reach 3.

Reach 3 extends from the southern end of Myrtle Beach State Park through the oceanfront campgrounds and south into Surfside Beach, Garden City and parts of Georgetown County. Construction in this area is expected to begin in July, weather and equipment conditions permitting, and continue through August.

As a reminder, only small portions of the sand will be off limits as crews continue to pump sand from offshore onto our coastline. If you encounter a construction area at a beach access, simply follow the orange fencing to the next available public access point.

Horry County will continue to provide updates as construction moves closer to the south strand.
