Benefits
All regular eligible County employees are members of the South Carolina Retirement System, and both the County and the employee make contributions to the retirement program, regulated by the state. For 2022, a regular employee contributes 9% of their salary and the County contributes 17.56% to the SCRS employer fund.
A police or fire employee contributes 9.75% of their salary and the County contributes an additional 20.24% to the PORS employer fund.

Visits to the County Wellness Center are 100% covered for eligible employees and their covered spouses which includes sick and well visits, annual risk health assessments, and wellness coaching.
The County offers up to 36 accrued leave hours with the completion of wellness programs, free access to the County gym, and reimbursement for the Race Series.
The County pays for employees and their families to have access to the Employee Assistance Program, which covers a variety of counseling services.

The benefits package includes accrued vacation and sick leave. New employees receive monthly vacation accruals that total two weeks paid vacation in addition to sick leave. Leave accrual rates increase in accordance with time in service.
In addition, the County observes these 13 holidays: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, 4th of July, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving and the day after, and a three day Christmas break that includes Christmas day and two additional days.

Optional benefit programs include the following pre-tax savings plans: Deferred Compensation 457/40Ik; Roth 40I(k) and 457. Contributions to these optional accounts are an excellent way to help save for retirement or for healthcare costs in retirement.

Health & Dental insurance premiums are paid by the County, a value of $618.20 a month or $7418.40 per year for each employee.
An employee may elect to cover family members through bi-weekly payroll deductions. Here is the cost per pay period, unless otherwise indicated, for family >coverage:
- HEALTH Insurance (Spouse) $83.52
- HEALTH Insurance (Children) $24.77
- HEALTH Insurance (Family) $112.06
Regular full-time employees also haveoptions for dental and vision insurance. Basic dental employee is paid by the County and employee vision is $2.97 a pay period.
The County pays for eligible employees to be covered with basic long term disability, $3,000 term life policy, 1x annual salary up to $50,000 death benefit and through the retirement system, 1x annual salary death benefit.
