Horry County Voters Registration and Elections department gives all citizens a chance to register and vote, and also to successfully administer all federal, state, and local elections held within Horry County.
Poll Managers.
The Horry County Voter Registration and Election Commission is always looking for qualified Poll Managers to staff precincts throughout Horry County. The Poll Managers along with the precinct Clerk are responsible for following State Election Laws and procedures in allowing voters to confidently cast their vote in their specific polling location on Election day. Qualifications
- Poll Managers (except Poll Manager Assistants) must be registered to vote in South Carolina.
- Any 16 or 17-year-old can apply to be a Poll Manager Assistant.
- Clerks must be a registered voter in the county in which they are serving or an adjoining county.
- Poll Managers may not be a candidate or the spouse, parent, child, brother, or sister of a candidate at any polling place where the candidate’s name appears on the ballot.
- Be able to attend a Poll Manager Training Class in person (2-3 hours) or complete the Online Poll Manager Training.
- Be prepared to work the ENTIRE Election Day, from 6:15AM until 7:30PM.
- Be non-partisan on Election Day.
Election Day Duties
- Assist with the opening and closing of the polls
- Greeting voters
- Assistance to voters as needed
- Managing polling location in a professional manner while following ALL Election laws and procedures

ABSENTEE VOTING
Allows qualified voters to cast a ballot by mail prior to Election Day
Step 1: Get your application
- You can submit your request for an application as early as January 1 of the election year. You must request an absentee ballot every year, this does not carry over from previous years.
Step 2: Complete, sign and return the application
- Return the application by U.S. mail or personal delivery to your county voter registration office as soon as possible.
- The deadline to return your application is 5:00 p.m. on the 11th day prior to the election.
Step 3: Receive your absentee ballot in the mail
- Voters who have applied early will be mailed their absentee ballot approximately 30 days before the election.
Step 4: Vote and return the ballot
- Return your ballot to your county voter registration office or an early voting center either by mail or personal delivery.
- Must present Photo ID when returning the ballot in person.
- Acceptable Photo IDs:
- Ballots returned by mail should be mailed no later than one week prior to election day to help ensure timely delivery.
