Keith Urban is a very special dog who has been waiting patiently for his chance at a forever home. In February, Keith successfully completed an extensive three-week training program through our partnership with MLK9 Myrtle Beach, building important life skills that will help him thrive in a home environment.
During his training, Keith worked on structure, obedience, leash manners, confidence-building, impulse control, and overall adoptability. He learned foundational commands such as sit, down, place, recall, and proper leash walking, while also practicing calm behavior around distractions and learning how to focus on his handler. His training emphasized consistency, routine, and clear communication so he could better understand expectations and feel more secure in different situations.
Keith also spent time working on confidence and socialization exercises designed to help him navigate new environments, unfamiliar people, and everyday experiences with more comfort and stability. Trainers focused on helping him remain calm, engaged, and responsive while reinforcing positive behaviors and building trust. He showed himself to be intelligent, eager to learn, and highly responsive to guidance throughout the program.
Keith, like many other dogs, is the kind of dog who thrives with structure and leadership. He does best when given clear boundaries, daily routine, and continued reinforcement of the skills he has already learned. He already has a strong professional foundation, and now he simply needs the right person or family willing to continue that progress and give him the stability he deserves.
He is smart, willing to work, and has so much potential. Like many shelter dogs, Keith may need a little time to settle into a new home, but with patience, consistency, and continued structure, he has everything he needs to become an incredible companion. His training has given him the tools to succeed, and with ongoing practice and guidance, he is capable of forming a strong bond with his future family.
To help make Keith's transition successful, MLK9 Myrtle Beach is also willing to provide one free week of touch-up training for Keith, along with a detailed go-home lesson for whoever adopts him. During this session, his adopter will learn the commands and techniques Keith already knows, how to properly reinforce his training, correct unwanted behavior and how to maintain the structure that helps him feel confident and successful. This support is designed to make the transition smoother for both Keith and his new family and to help set everyone up for long-term success.
