Honor Guard
The fire service is commonly called a “para-military” organization. There is a great deal of esprit de corps and professionalism within the service. As a part of that ceremonial function, Horry County Fire Rescue has an Honor Guard, which started in 1998.
This Honor Guard serves at official functions of the Department, supports other community activities and participates at South Carolina Fire and EMS events when there is a need for a formal organization to present the colors of our great country and honor the profession.
Additionally, the Horry County Fire Rescue Honor Guard has been called upon on numerous occasions to participate in fire department funerals throughout the State of South Carolina. The Guard participates in graduations, awards ceremonies, parades and station openings throughout the year.
