Employment Qualifications
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED
- Experience in telecommunications, public safety or related field preferred, but not required
- Pass a criminal background investigation
Employee Training and Requirements
- National Crime Information Center Certification
- South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy E-9-1-1 Telecommunicator Specialist Training
- Certifications from the International Academy of Emergency Dispatch in the following areas:
- Emergency Telecommunications
- Emergency Fire Dispatch
- Emergency Medical Dispatch
- Emergency Police Dispatch
- Mandatory in-service training
- Various local and regional training opportunities
- CPR
