Meet

Alexa

A Retriever, Labrador with mix
Say hello to Alexa. Alexa is a young pup full of energy and ready for a new home. While at the shelter she has been occupying a kennel in a office and staff has found she is good in her kennel she only poo or pee's when she absolutely has to, but if you take her out regularly she will not. Overnight she most of the time can hold herself until the morning. She is not loud in her kennel unless she needs to get out. She loves squeaky toys and toys she can chew on, and she loves to chew on them! We have taken her out with dogs her size and bigger and older than her. She will play with mellow dogs along with hyper dogs. If a dog comes up to her and intimidates her she will roll on her belly and be submissive. She needs a little basic training in a house. We have noticed she will jump up on our desk to see what we are doing and likes to see all the things around the office, but she is still a puppy and has a lot of learning time. She is eager to please and learn. She is currently learning how to walk better on a leash and doing well at it. If you are interested in Alexa come see her at the shelter.

Long walks or fenced in back yard is always the best environment for dogs, but exercise is the main goal. We can test our dogs with other dogs at the shelter, but not every dog may get along with your dog this is why if you do have a pet at home we strongly suggest meet and greets before adopting. When adopting an animal at the shelter please know the responsibility of an animal. Most of the animals at the shelter have come in as a stray which mean they may not know how to sit or stay. They also might not have manners such as not to jump. Adopting takes patience. Please research the dog breed you are interested in and remember it takes time. Refer to the sheltering 3/3/3 rule of adopting for help.
