Meet

Bruno

A Bulldog with mix
This is Bruno. Bruno was surrendered for adoption because his old family had a baby and he was not adjusting. It was told he did not like the loud noise of the baby crying. We have found at the shelter that he is quite sensitive to loud noises. He becomes fearful of this. Being at the shelter has made him very stressed and you can see that walking through to look at him, but outside of the kennel he is a different dog full of life and excitement. We have found that he is crate trained and very treat motivated. He has not been dog friendly with dogs we have tested him with, but that can always change with time and training.

Bruno just sent him to a Board and Train with a shelter training partner of ours. This is what she had to say about Bruno.
"Bruno was a perfect gentleman with me. Not one growl or bark even with people he didn't know approaching his kennel.
He is completely crate trained and he knows sit and shake with both paws. He walks well on leash.
His issues at the shelter are completely environmental. He had no issues at all with me. He was one of the best behaved dogs I have ever had the pleasure of working with.
He does jump with sudden noises to pairing noises with high value foods will help him build a positive association."

Long walks or fenced in back yard is always the best environment for dogs, but exercise is the main goal. We can test our dogs with other dogs at the shelter, but not every dog may get along with your dog this is why if you do have a pet at home we strongly suggest meet and greets before adopting. When adopting an animal at the shelter please know the responsibility of an animal. Most of the animals at the shelter have come in as a stray which mean they may not know how to sit or stay. They also might not have manners such as not to jump. Adopting takes patience. Please research the dog breed you are interested in and remember it takes time. Refer to the sheltering 3/3/3 rule of adopting for help.
