As the first link in the chain of Public Safety, it is our mission to provide courteous, reliable and professional service to the citizens and visitors of Horry County.
We will support all Public Safety agencies with superior communications services through the use of state-of-the-art equipment, effective ongoing training, caring and dedicated employees and by actively seeking ways to improve. To provide our citizens and visitors with a reliable, state-of-the-art, Enhanced 9-1-1 system, manned by well‑trained, courteous call-takers. We will provide timely, lifesaving assistance in all emergencies. We will handle non-emergency calls efficiently and provide accurate information to internal and external callers. We will make timely and accurate changes to the telephone database.

Tips

- Do not use abbreviations or slang.
- Please answer all questions from the telecommunicator.
- Photos and videos cannot be sent to 9-1-1.
- Texts to 9-1-1 cannot include more than 1 person.
- No text message should exceend 140 characters.

- Do: Call or text 911 for emergencies only. Use 911 to stop a crime, save a life, or report a fire.
- Do: Text 911 when you’re unable to call.
- Do: Call our Non-Emergency line (843-248-1520) to report a crime not currently in progress, make an animal or noise complaint, or to ask about trash/litter control".

Don'ts
- Don’t: Call or text 911 to report your power is out. Call your utility company.
- Don’t: Call or Text 911 as a prank. Prank-calling/texting is illegal.

Special Needs Form
Please complete a Special Needs Form to identify special needs of occupants citizens in Horry County. Please complete all fields on the form; an incomplete form may delay processing of the information. This record will be purged ninety (90) days from entry date. A new form must be resubmitted to modify or delete current record.
