WILDFIRE UPDATE: 3/2/25 at 7:30 p.m.

Re-entry has been authorized for residents of all neighborhoods previously evacuated due to the Carolina Forest wildfire. Residents can expect to see first responders in the affected areas for an extended period of time.

The wildfire is estimated to be approximately 1,600 acres and 30% contained, per South Carolina Forestry Commission.

Smoke will also be visible for an extended period of time. Folks traveling across the area are asked to use caution as smoke may reduce visibility, particularly after dark.

International Drive remains closed at the fire gates. Drivers should plan to use alternate routes of Highways 501, 22, and 31. Law enforcement will remain in the area until the road fully reopens.

The Carolina Forest Recreation Center will reopen on a delay Monday, March 3, 2025, at Noon.

The incident response has involved approximately 410 personnel manning, among other vehicles, at least 127 fire apparatus. Personnel will continue to staff this incident until the fire is contained.

As of this time, no structures have succumbed to the wildfire, and no injuries are reported.
