Horry County Council passed a resolution earlier this week to recognize Feb. 21, 2025, as Government Communicators Day. The resolution seeks to shine a light on the members of Team Horry who work every day to get information out to our community, through articles like this one and a multitude of other communication channels.

The Horry County Public Information Office (HCPIO) is comprised of eight team members who communicate with Horry County residents and visitors in various capacities 24/7/365.

On Team Horry, the primary public information and communications goal is to get the right information to the right people at exactly the right time. It is Horry County's hope that doing so empowers community members in the individual decision making that is fundamental to a strong democracy.

In pursuit of that goal, HCPIO works every day to build partnerships, initiate action for the collective good, build understanding through storytelling, foster engagement on civic issues, and provide accurate and up-to-date details on County activities.

HCPIO is just one part of a bigger process though. That's why Government Communicators Day isn't just about one office, but rather about the larger team of partners who help disseminate information so that it reaches everyone.

Our community members and local news partners have our gratitude for their engagement in keeping folks informed.

HCPIO is proud to work with you and stand alongside you as partners in our community.
