On Thursday, October 30, 2025, Horry County leaders, elected officials and the public gathered for the groundbreaking of a new public safety training facility. Located on Industrial Park Rd, next to the Animal Care Center. This training facility will have the capacity to train Horry County police, fire rescue crews, and Sheriff’s Office personnel in one centralized location.
The site plan features a 400’ x 400’ multi-use firefighting training area, and a ¼ mile driver training track. The facility will also have dedicated office and classroom space, as well as include a new space for the Coroner’s Office. The facility and features are an approximately $35 million investment in public safety for Horry County residents.
