As Horry County’s Planning and Zoning Department continues its review of the Comprehensive Plan known as Imagine 2040, Public Meeting dates are now set to expand community input.

The vital policy document is used to help shape the future of our community – for us all.

The SC Code of Laws requires that the Comprehensive Plan be reviewed at least once every five years and updated at least once every ten years.

A major component of this review is the incorporation of resiliency—ensuring that our community is equipped to handle environmental, economic and social challenges, including climate change, natural disasters and growth pressures.

Community Input:

There are a couple ways for the community to participate in the review process.

One way is by completing the 10-minute online survey with questions surrounding the topics of resilience, housing & commercial development, transportation, community facilities & open space, and land use.

CLICK HERE to complete the survey.

Horry County residents are also invited to attend Public Meetings to learn more about the review and share their feedback directly with our team.

The Public Meetings are scheduled for:

- Tuesday, August 5: Carolina Forest Recreation Center from
5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

- Tuesday, August 12: Government & Justice Center, Multipurpose Rooms from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Together, we can help craft a vision that meets the needs of today while preparing for the challenges of tomorrow.
