Public safety personnel are evacuating areas of the Indigo Bay, Summerlyn, and Farm neighborhoods of Carolina Forest due to the ongoing wildfire with nearby structures threatened.
Around 3 a.m. Sunday, an additional evacuation was ordered for Arrow Wood Court, Indianola Court, and Tuckahoe Road in the Walkers Woods neighborhood.
At 4:45 a.m., evacuations were ordered for Covington Drive from Summerhill Drive to the community center in the Covington Lakes neighborhood.
At 6 a.m., evacuations were conducted for Blackberry Lane from the intersections of Spring Lake Drive including Pennyroyal Court, Alyssum Court, Bluebonnet Court, as well as Harvest Drive from Moonbeam Court to Tidelands Court in the Spring Lake community.
Evacuees can take refuge at the Carolina Forest Recreation Center at 2254 Carolina Forest Blvd., Myrtle Beach, SC 29579.
All others are asked to steer clear and leave roadways open for first responders.
When an evacuation order becomes necessary, public safety personnel go through neighborhoods, knocking on doors, and delivering the message via PA systems at this time.
A Code Red emergency alert is also sent out by Horry County 911 to registered residents in the impacted area. A screenshot of such a Code Red can be seen below.
