Horry County public safety personnel have conducted evacuations in the Walkers Woods and Avalon neighborhoods of Carolina Forest due to active outdoor fires with structures threatened.
A shelter has been established at Carolina Forest Recreation Center (2254 Carolina Forest Blvd., Myrtle Beach, SC 29579) for fire evacuees.
Horry County Fire Rescue is coordinating with local and state partners to work toward containment of the fire.
When possible, updates will be provided via the County website, Horry County Fire Rescue social media pages, Code Red alerts, local news outlets, and local and state partner agencies.
Community members not in the evacuation area are asked to steer clear of the impacted area to leave roadways open for first responders.
