Horry County Government has selected Renee Hardwick to serve as Assistant County Administrator for the Public Safety Division.

 

Hardwick will be responsible for shepherding the County’s Public Safety departments, spanning initial calls for service into Horry County 911, to working through disaster events with Horry County Emergency Management. She will lead a team of Public Safety departments with professional leadership that have a depth of knowledge within their respective fields, who remain mission-focused on the safety and well-being of the community.

 

With decades of service and experience within Horry County Government, Hardwick brings a specialized and deep understanding of not only public safety, but of the service culture within Horry County.

 

“It has been my sincerest honor to serve Horry County for so many years with Horry County 911, and I am grateful for this new opportunity,” said Hardwick. “We have great teams and capabilities within our Public Safety departments, and I look forward to assisting them and championing their work.”

 

Hardwick was selected after a national search of candidates to fill the position that has been filled on an interim basis by County Attorney David Jordan.

 

“Miss Hardwick is a pillar of knowledge within Horry County, and she will provide excellent guidance and support to the County’s Public Safety Division,” said Horry County Administrator Barry Spivey. “We appreciate her willingness to serve in this new capacity as the County looks to the future to the meet the needs of the community.”

 

Hardwick has most recently served as 911 and Radio Communications Director for Horry County where she has managed one of the largest dispatch centers in South Carolina. She is a respected leader in her field, having been named Director of the Year by the National Emergency Number Association and South Carolina Associated Public-Safety Communications Officials in 2023.

 

Assistant County Administrator for Public Safety Renee Hardwick will begin in her new role effective immediately.
