Six dogs at the Animal Care Center need homes as they undergo their heartworm treatment.

Rayna, Boo, Carter, Sketch, Saturn, and Vampire are all heartworm positive and have started their treatment. Their treatment has been sponsored thanks to a generous donation. The treatment is being provided by the Animal Care Center clinic.

Full heartworm adulticide is not always possible in a sheltering environment. Heartworm treatment requires a minimum 90-day hold to be placed on an animal, preventing rescues or adoptions as well as requiring activity restrictions and monitoring that are not possible in a large-scale kenneling operation. Perhaps in the future, with additional funding, staffing and facilities, this may be possible.

These 6 dogs are available for fee-free adoption or long-term fostering.

Rayna is a female 2-year-old female 2-year-old red Rhodesian Ridgeback with great ears. She is mellow, friendly, and calm.
Boo is a male 1-year-old white and brown Labrador Retriever. He is friendly, gets along with other dogs, and loves affection.
