Horry County Fire Rescue put an ambulance into service at Station 12 (Nixonville/Wampee) Thursday afternoon, a first for that location, and it's already making a difference running emergency calls.
Crews treated and transported a patient from a crash Thursday afternoon, and transported from a medical call this morning.
The new ambulance at Station 12 (Nixonville/Wampee) not only expands HCFR's ability to respond to and transport patients to the hospital, it helps alleviate call volumes for other ambulance crews housed at nearby stations. This new ambulance brings HCFR's total of daily units in service to 28.
HCFR is just days away from setting a new yearly call volume record, with hardworking first responders busier than ever before.
In 2023, HCFR was dispatched to 79,238 calls by Horry County 911's telecommunicators. With more than a week left in 2024, HCFR has already been dispatched to more than 80,000 calls.
