The Horry County Animal Care Center has extended their Heartworm Sponsorship event through March 1, 2026.
This means that any heartworm-positive pet adopted from the ACC through March 1, 2026, will receive treatment through the ACC clinic at no cost. Heartworm-negative pets adopted during this time will receive 6 months of heartworm preventative at no cost.
Heartworm is one of many factors that can keep a pet in a shelter for a long period of time. However, heartworm is treatable, common and does not mean the pet is any less worthy of love.
All available ACC pets are up to date on vaccines, spayed/neutered, and microchipped. All ACC adoptions are fee-free. Find the list of pets available for adoption here.
