General Job Description

Provides administrative support to the daily operations of the Human Resources Department. Performs a wide variety of clerical duties. Interacts with employees and applicants when answering questions, obtaining/distributing information or coordinating department programs/projects. Continuous interaction with employees, candidates and County citizens related to all HR and risk management services. Reports to Senior HR Generalist.

Duties for this Position
  • Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate HR/Risk Management staff.
  • Process I-9 documents through E-Verify for all new hires.
  • Process background checks for new hires and County volunteers.
  • Assist employees with address, beneficiary, insurance and retirement changes actions.
  • Clerical duties such as copying, filing, and maintaining office supplies.
  • Assist with onboarding activities for employee candidates and be backup point of contact when main contact is unavailable.
  • Respond to outside requests for employment verifications.
  • Part of presenter rotation for Benefits and County Guidelines, for New Hire Orientations.
  • Assist with setting up meeting space for New Hire Orientations and HR related events.
  • Manage employee data maintenance and control through Munis.
  • Consult with management and department leads regarding HR procedures and practices.
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
  • Able to multi-task, communicate progress and meet deadlines.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.
Position Minimum Requirements
  • Associates degree and three (3) years of related experience; High School Diploma and five (5) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Customer service skills, working knowledge of office equipment such as telephone, computer, fax machine, scanner, and copy machine. Must be able to lift 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Experience with software systems such as Munis; E-Verify; OnBase; Record Pros; and escreen preferred but not required.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to adapt and assimilate to the HR department’s cultural requirements. Ability to make independent judgments and to act on decisions on a daily basis. Ability to work for long periods of time without directions. Ability to prioritize own work as needed. Ability to work with flexibility on several tasks simultaneously and to meet various concurrent deadlines. Very strong organizational skills, analytical and problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Ability to operate in a sensitive work environment requiring confidentiality and discretion. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of county employees as well as external customers
