General Job Description

This position is within the Airport Facilities Department and reports directly to the Director of Facilities. The qualified team leader will be able to perform various grounds and sprinkler repairs, and landscape duties including entrance and walkway cleaning at Myrtle Beach International Airport. He/she will organize a team of assigned workers to perform tasks and projects. Will be responsible for project plans, schedules, cost estimates and implementation from start to finish. Must be able to motivate and mentor team workers and monitor the progress of various projects while ensuring all OSHA and safety standards are always maintained. May perform other duties to ensure and maintain the efficiency of the facilities department.

Duties for this Position
  • Direct and assist assigned team members with various duties.
  • Must have ability to prioritize and delegate work.
  • Obtain pricing of replacement parts, complete requisitions and submit in accordance with County procurement policy.
  • Ensure all work performed by employees is being done safely, and according to all regulations and codes.
  • Use an assortment of types of machinery and equipment in the performance of daily tasks including vehicles, power tools, and heavy equipment such as back hoes and forklifts.
  • Receives work orders and completes jobs in a timely manner as prescribed by the department supervisor.
  • Assist and direct landscaping duties such as mowing, sweeping, mulch spreading, and weeding as needed.
  • Must be able to communicate on radios.
  • Ability to respond calmly in high pressure situations and professionally communicate.
  • May require second shift, after hours or weekend work to minimize airport business.
  • May work in preparation for as well as during storms and airport emergencies.
  • Ability to perform manual labor and lift at least 40 pounds.
  • Required to have flexible availability for airport emergency staffing purposes and will provide project and task status information to supervisor as needed to assist the airport with proper scheduling of resources.
  • Understands and complies with Horry County and Department policies regarding absences and use of paid leave time and other policies.
  • Performs other related duties and assisting as required/ assigned, such as airfield needs, gate and fence repairs, landscaping needs, etc.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned by the department.
Position Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma and 5 years minimum experience at an airport performing general maintenance and repair activities and two years in a leadership position or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
  • Candidate must pass a background check without indication of possible aviation security risk as required by the transportation security administration, valid SC motor vehicle operator’s license, and meet pre-employment drug screening requirements.
