General Job Description
Under limited supervision, supervises and assists clerical personnel with daily routine duties and problems; reviews work of subordinates for accuracy and completeness.
- Duties for this Position

- Directly supervises the entire Customer Service Team.
- Delegates and organizes job responsibilities; monitors, advises, evaluates work of subordinates ensuring all responsibilities and compliance of them.
- Provides education, training, and motivation to staff members.
- Assists at the recording desk, QC, or customer service during times of high customer volume or to cover absent staff members.
- Performs overrides or revisions within recording transactions to correct staff errors.
- Monitors customer volume in the customer service and recording areas and moves staff to efficiently assist customers.
- Handles problem customers via phone or in person.
- Maintains staff statistics and files, completes monthly statistical reports for management, and provides feedback to staff.
- Holds team meetings with staff members; allocates staff where needed by preparing and distributing temporary job assignments.
- Holds documented conferences with staff members as needed. Prepares disciplinary reports when necessary.
- Answers questions or resolves problems with documents presented for recording.
- Researches SC State Statutes when needed to answer recording questions.
- Assists with job related duties including but not limited to answering telephone calls, answering patron questions, assisting with problems found within the indexes, helping team members with problem transactions, and solving problems with unique documents to get them recorded properly in the correct book and under the correct document type.
- Prepares yearly employee evaluations of team members.
- Performs other job-related duties as required
- Reports to the Deputy Register of Deeds and serves as a team member of senior leadership.
- Position Minimum Requirements

- Associate degree and three years of progressively responsible experience or a high school diploma and five years of progressively responsible experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
- Must display knowledge of recorded deeds, mortgages, liens and land records or related educational experience.
- Must have knowledge of the statutory requirements for the recordation of all instruments recorded in the Register of Deeds Office.
- Must exhibit good leadership skills and team building skills
- Must be able to type accurately.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Must be able to pass the required pre-employment physical and background check.
