General Job Description
Maintains kitchen according to established government health and safety regulations. Follows guidelines for the proper storage, preparation and service of food. Accepts food shipments and stocks appropriately.
- Duties for this Position

- • Reviews special diet requests and assists in planning healthy, appetizing meals.
• Completes required paperwork.
• Operates a variety of equipment and tools such as a fryer, ovens, grill, stove, steamer, toaster, mixers, knives, basic cooking utensils, cleaning equipment and supplies, telephone, etc.
• Interacts and communicates with supervisor, dietician, co-workers, Detention Center Director, Center employees, inmates and delivery persons.
- Position Minimum Requirements

- • GED and one to two years of cooking experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to pass the required pre-employment physical and background check.
