General Job Description
Under general supervision, maintains and performs preventative maintenance on airport systems. Assist in all aspects of airport maintenance. Reports to airfield maintenance supervisor. Must become proficient in all aspects of job within 6 months of hire date. The position may be required to work at any county airport, when needed.
- Duties for this Position

- • Assists skilled craftsmen in performing airfield, building and grounds maintenance work.
• Assist with pavement repairs / maintenance including marking applications.
• Maintain airfield ditches, culverts, pipes, vegetation, pavements, security fence and gates.
• Utilize a variety of repair tools and equipment.
• Operate a variety of vegetation control, earth moving and pavement maintenance equipment
• Perform daily inspections and maintenance on all equipment.
• Ability to perform manual labor and lifting at least forty pounds.
• Airport security and AOA driver training mandatory.
• FAA and TSA security rules and regulations training mandatory.
• OSHA safety training mandatory.
• Develop comprehensive knowledge of FAA 139 advisory circulars.
• Must be able to communicate on radios, 800mhz and air to ground
• This position will require occasional work during nights/weekends and inclement weather
• Required to have flexibility for airport emergency staffing purposes and must provide detailed ongoing information to supervisor as to availability during unscheduled periods.
• Understands and complies with Horry County and Department policies.
• Perform other related duties as required / assigned
- Position Minimum Requirements

- • High school or GED equal, physical ability to perform the required work, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and ability. Two years of practical training and experience in performing general maintenance and repair activities, or any equivalent combination thereof. Must possess a Valid SC DOT driver’s license.
• Written test and or work ability demonstration may be required
• Must pass 10 yr. background check, physical and drug test.
