General Job Description

Must be able to service and repair passenger vehicles as well as medium and heavy-duty grounds maintenance equipment. Assist in a variety of airfield maintenance projects when required. Reports to airfield maintenance supervisor. Must become proficient in all duties within six months of hire date.

Duties for this Position
  • • Perform routine service on passenger vehicles according to departmental guidelines. • Perform routine service of vegetation control and earth moving equipment. • Possess an understanding of parts diagrams, placing and receive parts orders. • Possess or develop the ability to maneuver specialized airport equipment. • Operate a variety of fleet vehicle maintenance tools and equipment. • Develop or possess the ability to maintain and repair emergency response equipment. • Diagnose basic discrepancies of vehicles, completing repairs as directed. • Perform basic computer skills utilizing Microsoft Excel and Word. • Must be able to clearly communicate on air to ground and maintenance radios. • Complete mandatory FAA and TSA regulations training to drive on airfield. • Must develop and understand FAA Part 139 yearly training requirement. • Assist skilled craftsmen in performing a variety of airfield maintenance duties. • Ability to perform manual labor and lift at least forty pounds. • Required to have flexible availability for airport emergency staffing purpose and must provide detailed ongoing information to supervisor as to availability during unscheduled periods. • Will work in all weather conditions and airport emergencies. Required on occasions to work at night / weekend. • Understand and compile with Horry County and Department policies regarding absences and use of paid leave time and other polices. • Perform other related duties as required / assigned.
Position Minimum Requirements
  • • High school diploma or GED. License, certification, or formal training which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities. • Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license. • Must pass 10 yr. background check, physical and drug test. Written test and or work ability demonstration considered.
