General Job Description

Under limited supervision of Victim/Witness Director, a bi-lingual advocate who performs professional and responsible administrative work assisting victims and witnesses. The advocate will be fluent in both English and Spanish.

Duties for this Position
  • 1. Set up a victim file. 2. Send out a victim notification letter when the warrant is received. 3. Offer victim assistance in preparing a victim impact statement. 4. Inform the victim of financial assistance, compensation, and fees; and offer the victim assistance with application for these items. 5. Schedule an appointment for each victim to meet with the Advocate and Prosecutor. 6. Escort victim to initial interview with Prosecutor and all court hearings. 7. Coordinate and contact local agencies such as Rape Crisis Center, Children's Recovery Center, Salvation Army, and Waccamaw Center for Mental Health for evaluation and/or treatment for victims if needed. 8. Provide status reports and update information upon request. 9. Provide written verification to victims regarding dispositions and sentences when their case goes to court or is otherwise disposed of. 1. Set up a victim file. 2. Position Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Psychology, Sociology, or related field and a minimum of one year experience in a criminal justice or counseling capacity. Applicant must have a valid SC Driver's license and is subject to a background investigation prior to hiring. Must be fluent in both English and Spanish.
