General Job Description
Under limited supervision, repairs, services, and maintains Horry County Fire Rescue owned heavy trucks and equipment including ambulances.
- Duties for this Position

- Reports to the Fire Rescue Fleet Manager
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Working knowledge of standard practices, methods, tools and equipment involved in automotive repair with fire and medic units
- Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools and diagnostic equipment
- Working knowledge of the internal combustion engines, both gas and diesel, and principles of operations of automotive equipment to include emergency vehicles
- Repairs, including, but not limited to, brakes, engines and electrical work
- Able to perform complex diagnostic tests, repairs and maintenance on light duty vehicles
- Conducts/assists with ladder testing, SCBA maintenance and testing, pumps testing, and other fire equipment testing/maintenance as required by department SOPs, OSHA, NFP A and ISO
- Performs other related duties as required
- Position Minimum Requirements

- High school diploma or GED and two years' experience in heavy equipment repair
- Must have fabrication working knowledge
- Must have CDL license or a permit and able to obtain CDL endorsement within one year of hire date
- Must be EVT certified, or obtain EVT certification within one year
- Must be able to lift 100 lbs
- Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools and diagnostic equipment
- Inspect assigned equipment, diagnose electrical and mechanical problems and determine the extent of repairs
- Be available to take nightly call at least one week a month
- Must have a valid South Carolina Driver's License
- Must pass the Horry County pre-employment physical
