General Job Description
This position is within the Network Infrastructure team and reports directly to the Network Infrastructure Manager. The Network/System administrator is responsible for building and maintaining a secure, stable, and optimally-performing environment across a countywide enterprise. We are seeking a self-motivated skilled person to be part of the Help Desk support component of the Network Infrastructure Team.
- Duties for this Position

- Answer and resolve helpdesk calls from local and remote users and offices when needed.
- Will use personal knowledge, help desk software and a knowledgebase to support county employees in areas of networking, telephone, PC hardware/software and application issues.
- Documents incidents and provide data for performance metrics.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, consistent follow-through to assure problems are resolved.
- Strong communication skills to be able to work with employees to troubleshoot technical issues with the ability to respond calmly to high pressure situations and to professionally communicate with technical and nontechnical staff.
- Work with the Network Infrastructure Manager to build and execute the vision and strategy for the server/datacenter and end user environments, including emerging technology, new technical solutions, software and hardware roadmaps, etc.
- Contribute to major technical projects, and lead or contribute to small-medium technical projects, as assigned.
- Troubleshoot complex issues involving infrastructure hardware that may include desktops, servers, network, and storage and/or Software such as Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and WSUS as examples.
- Participate in the testing and evaluation of new technologies to ensure compatibility and functionality.
- Create and maintain software deployment packages through Dell Kace, Active Directory, or other technologies as applicable.
- Design and create reports within management systems for strategic decision making (licensing, patch/vulnerability, asset intelligence, etc.)
- Escalates incidents/queries as necessary to resolve incidents.
- This position will also require participation in an on-call rotation.
- Will require occasional after hours work to minimize disruptions to county business.
- Position Minimum Requirements

- Requires an Associate's degree in Computer Technology supplemented by two years of computer experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Some helpdesk experience is preferred
- Must have the aptitude to learn new software applications quickly and the ability to think outside the box to locate solution.
- Individual must possess knowledge and experience supporting server operating systems, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Microsoft Office applications, fundamental networking, hardware troubleshooting, and other PC applications.
- The following product/technologies are also part of the Horry County environment, but they are not a requirement to apply for this position. Experience in these areas would be a plus: • VMware vSphere and/or Horizon View, • Server technologies, • Security, • Automation, and scripting. • Microsoft Exchange (Online) • Quest Kace • IT related certifications
- Must be able to pass the required pre-employment physical and background check.
