General Job Description
Under occasional supervision, on Department of Airport property, enforces federal, local and state laws, County ordinances and Airport policies and procedures related to public safety and welfare.
- Duties for this Position

- Responds to actual or potential aircraft emergencies to prevent or extinguish aircraft fires and rescue aircraft occupants.
- Responds to fires to protect life and property.
- Responds to medical emergencies as a first responder, and providing patient care as appropriate to adopted protocols.
- Conducts Airfield Safety Self-Inspections IAW 14 CFR 139
- Works under stressful, high risk conditions.
- Position Minimum Requirements

- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Possession of NFPA Firefighter I and Firefighter II certifications.
- Two years of Civilian or Military ARFF firefighter experience preferred.
- Possession of International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) ARFF Firefighter 1003 certification preferred.
- Possession of a State EMT and/or National Registry EMT certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire. Must maintain EMT certification throughout term of employment.
- Valid driver’s license, & provide a ten-year driving record with no conviction of DUI/DUS.
- Must pass a written examination, a physical endurance test, and medical evaluation IAW NFPA standard for Firefighter
- Will undergo FBI/NCIC fingerprint check and complete ten (10) year work history background check.
- Provide documentation of NIMS training.
- Must be able to pass required pre-employment physical & background check.
