Citizens Report

Using this online citizen police report system allows you to submit a non-emergency report immediately. Please confirm the following to find out if online citizen police report filing is right for you:

  • This is not an Emergency.
  • This incident occurred within Horry County but not in the cities of Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Conway or towns of Surfside Beach, Aynor or Loris.
  • This is not a motor vehicle accident or a hit and run accident.

If you answered yes to all of the above, you are ready to file your report online. If your incident occurred in one of the other jurisdictions mentioned above, contact the appropriate agency. If you need no report a motor vehicle accident, contact the SC Highway Patrol at 843-365-5001.

Upon completion of this report process you will:

  1. See the words: “Your online police report has been submitted” showing that your police report is complete.
  2. Be given a temporary report number.
  3. Be able to print a copy of the temporary report to keep for your records.

Please Note:

  • All information provided may be subject to the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act and public disclosure.
  • All cases filed using the Online Police Reporting System will be reviewed.
  • Please allow 5 business days for your report to be processed through our records management system.
  • When reporting a crime through this system, it does not initiate an investigation by an officer, nor will an officer be assigned automatically to the case.
  • Upon review, if further investigation of your case is needed, you may be contacted.

Fingerprint Services

All Horry County Police Department patrol precincts provide fingerprint services to community members.

Fingerprint services cost $10.00 for the first card, and $5.00 for each additional card. Only exact change/cash is accepted at this time.

Hours of operation for fingerprint services vary by location.

For no cost fingerprint services, you may visit the Horry County Sheriff’s Office at 1301 2nd Avenue in downtown Conway, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Citizens Police Academy

The Horry County Police Department Citizens Police Academy (CPA) is for community members who are interested in gaining greater insight into law enforcement practices and services, as well as how police officers work in partnership with our community to improve public safety and reduce fear of crime. The 10-week program is open to all Horry County community members who are 18 or older. Participants will have the opportunity to meet with the Chief of Police, participate in officer training exercises, and explore different operational units within HCPD, from the bomb squad to the bloodhounds. Classes will be held every Monday at 6 p.m.

To apply, fill out the HCPD Citizens Police Academy Application and email the completed forms to Sgt. Jill Domogauer.

participants must undergo a background check prior to the start of the program.

How to request a copy of a police report at an HCPD precinct

If you have filed a police report with an officer and you are interested in requesting a copy of the report, there are a couple of ways to do this.

Travel to any of the below-listed precincts and request a copy. Upon arrival, you will be asked to present your identification, and either the case number or address and date of the occurrence. If the police report was filed by you or otherwise has your name on it, a copy of the report will be provided to you free of charge. (Please allow for a few days after the police report is filed so it can be completed and verified.)

If you are requesting a police report that doesn’t have your name on it, a copy of the report will be provided to you for a fee of $2.00. NOTE: Only exact change is accepted. Identifying information on a police report that doesn’t contain your name is subject to redaction under state statute.

Another option for requesting a police report that does not contain your name is to fill out a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request at https://www.horrycountysc.gov/departments/public-information/

How to request a copy of a police report via email

If you have filed a police report with an officer and you are interested in requesting a copy of that report via email, please email hcpdrecords@horrycountysc.gov with a photocopy of your identification and the case number or address and date of the occurrence.

You will not be able to request a copy of a report that doesn’t contain your name via email. You must travel to one of the below-listed precincts that are closest to you and request a copy, or use the FOIA request form online.
