Probate Judge
The Honorable R. Allen Beverly, Jr. was born in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 1976, the oldest son of Randy A. Beverly, a builder and Donna McLaurin Dabbs, a teacher. He attended college at Coastal Carolina University and graduated with a degree in Political Science in 2001. Judge Beverly attended law school at Campbell University School of Law and graduated with his Juris Doctor degree in 2004. In 2005, he was admitted to the South Carolina Bar Association.
Prior to being on the bench, Judge Beverly practiced law beginning in 2005. After passing the Bar, Judge Beverly moved back to Conway, South Carolina, and worked as an Associate Attorney with the late Gregory K. Martin who also served as the Mayor of Conway. After the passing of Martin, Judge Beverly opened his own private law firm in Conway and practiced for eight years before selling his business. Judge Beverly then took a job as an Associate Attorney with Hutchens Law Firm in Myrtle Beach before accepting the position as Chief Associate Probate Judge for Horry County in 2019. In November 2022, Judge Beverly was elected Horry County Probate Judge.
Judge Beverly served as Vice Chairman for the Horry County Board of Appeals for eight years and taught Business Law as an adjunct professor at Horry Georgetown Technical School. He is an active member of the South Carolina Association of Probate Judges (SCAPJ) and a member of the National College of Probate Judges. Judge Beverly is also the Drug Court Judge for the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
Judge Beverly and his wife, Jennifer T. Beverly, reside in Myrtle Beach and have two sons, Hampton and McLaurin. He attends Wellspring Church in Myrtle Beach, SC, and is very active in the local F3 organization (Faith, Fitness and Fellowship).
Away from the office, Judge Beverly has many interests which include, spending time with family, traveling, tennis, attending church, college football, chess and working out.
